Photo FAQ's...
No question is a silly one! If you don't have your questions answered after reading below then just send me an email or give me a call!
When should I book a photo session?
A lot of people mark milestones...birth, 3 month, 6 month, 9 month, 1st birthday, and other yearly birthdays to follow. However, the time of the year is another reason to book a shoot...Christmas, summer sunshine and flowers, or Fall leaves.
What is the best time to take pictures of my newborn?
A new baby is a big milestone in my eyes! As soon as you know your due date, go ahead and schedule a photo session just in case I'm not available after the baby is born. I would hate to miss those precious first moments of your baby's life! I recommend 6-9 days old. If something changes, we can always move it around!
The best time to capture your sweet bundle of joy is when he/she is still sleepy so I recommend within the first week. It makes it much easier to "prop" them and get the sweetest shots! No need to bring a lot of outfits for the baby because I do a lot of my shots naked. However, if you have that special outfit, blanket, or favorite hat bring it along! I do have a lot of hats, hair pretties, and other props that I use with the newborns. I also recommend bringing a bottle with formula/breast milk because we may need to stop during the shoot to get your baby sleepy again. Feel free to nurse at my home as well. Also, keeping mom happy and hydrated is important. The session can take 2-3 hours so please bring along something to drink and eat to keep yourself feeling great!

What should I wear?
I recommend wearing whatever makes you comfortable! If your child has a favorite pair of rain boots or a favorite tu-tu then he/she should wear them! I do recommend solid color shirts with jeans, colorful sweaters, or playful dresses! Just let your personality shine! I have tu-tu's, pettiskirts, hats, handmade hair pretties, and vintage baby clothing available for my photo sessions. Just let me know if you need help picking out or putting an outfit together! When we talk on the phone, please let me know what style you are looking for and I can help you decide!
If your session will be at my studio you can see the various backdrops that I have under the backdrops tab.

What kind of location would be best?
I set up in my studio in my home if you are looking for photos with a backdrop (see above) and I also shoot outdoors! I can help you choose an appropriate location to meet your needs. Some suggestions may be in my woods that surround my house, by a vintage truck, in a beautiful park, by a tranquil water location, or exploring the buildings on downtown Main Street. The possibilities are endless! Contact me and we can discuss it together!
Do you use props in the photos?
I keep my props to a minimum. After all your sweet child is who should shine in the photo! I love to use vintage items like suitcases, metal basins, baskets, old chairs or benches, flowers, or a simple toy.
How long should I allow for the photo shoot?
Allow about 30 minutes for Package 1. Allow about 1-1 1/2 hours for Package 2 & 3 since we may go to more than one location. Newborn sessions can take 2-3 hours depending on the newborn.
What if my child has a meltdown and won't take a picture?
I recommend scheduling your photo shoot at a time of the day when you know your child is usually in a good mood...like early in the morning or after a nap. I have two children and understand that something may go wrong at the shoot. I try hard to have fun with your child to help the situation and make them comfortable! Feel free to bring a little snack or something to drink to make them happy again. We can always take a break, change settings, and then regroup.
If your child is sick or completely out of sorts the day of the shoot we can always reschedule! Please give me a 24 hour warning.

Do you remove blemishes, scratches, etc.?
It always ends up happening that the day of your photo shoot your child ends up falling and scratching their face! I can remove most blemishes or scratches.
